Gallery: My 2nd Month Creating Digital Art in Photoshop

Keeping the promise I made last month, below is a gallery of all the (sharable lol) pictures I drew in my second month of digital art and really my second month making a concentrated effort at drawing or any visual medium, really. All of these images were made in Adobe Photoshop on an Acer Spin 5 (affiliate link!). I am really enjoying using the stylus so far, and I’m getting a lot of use out of the official Adobe Masterclasses on YouTube, like this one on Abstract Psychedelia. Any recommendations for content creators with good tutorials to follow? Here’s the three things I am looking to get better at going forward:

  • line control/clean-up

  • perspective/depth

  • use of textures/patterns

This lil dude is just chilling in a spaceship that definitely gives me Captain Falcon vibes. Started trying to have “dense” backgrounds for some contrast to the big cartoon shapes.

This month, I had a lot of fun finally figuring out how to use smaller, lighter lines to hit accents like her blushes and his hands. I guess I miss going out to bars?

Seeing how much I remembered the next day without GIS’ing “human skull” again.

RIP DOOM. I am still really enjoying this font and screentones, but want to start working in more depth, but I’m not sure if bevel and emboss effects will be the way to go ultimately.

Any Magic: the Gathering players here who love hedrons? They are a great shape to practice lots of straight lines with imho.

Ugh.. I tried drawing Gucci Mane from memory… but it looks more like Pepe, the Gucci Stan. Sorry, internet.

Okay HERE is where my experiments with Layer effects really shined IMO. The topography on the island is something I want to understand how to quickly “paint” using brushes. Hmm… Also, note that lit “snap to grid” effect on the longitude and latitude…

Is it worth it to bitch on the internet about the price of Magic cards?

BIG Studio Ghibli energy fed into this one. I like to think of it as a bit of a follow-up in form to the serpent I drew last month, where I’m trying to use similar scattered brushes to build concrete natural structures.

I loved building the contrast of opaque shapes on the trees and softness of the watercolor landscape. The aurora in the background has been inspired by playing way too much Miami in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
